DISASTER REPONSE TEAM
Caring for Communities. Responding with Compassion. Serving in Christ’s Name.
The Disaster Response Team of the Christian Reformed Church in the Philippines exists to support local churches and communities affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, floods, fires, and emergencies. We respond with immediate relief, help churches care for their members and neighbors, and work toward recovery and restoration rooted in Christ’s love.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
— Galatians 6:2
Our Purpose
We believe that diakonia (service) is a calling to love God and love our neighbors in practical, compassionate ways. The Disaster Response Team coordinates resources, volunteers, and partnerships to provide:
Rapid Response Relief (food, water, basic supplies)
Support for Displaced and Vulnerable Families
Local Church Coordination & Volunteer Mobilization
Follow-through Assistance for Recovery & Rehabilitation
Disaster Preparedness Awareness and Training
Our work is enabled by the unity of churches and generous giving across the CRCP.
How We Respond
Our approach is local church-centered, ensuring that care is both personal and relational.
1. Assessment
We communicate with local pastors and leaders in affected areas to understand real needs.
2. Mobilization
Funds and supplies are released quickly in coordination with Classis Diaconal Committees and partner congregations.
3. Relief Distribution
Food packs, water, hygiene kits, cash assistance, and pastoral support are given directly to families.
4. Recovery Support
Depending on needs, we help with:
Shelter repair
Community rebuilding
Counseling and spiritual care
Livelihood recovery
